Camp Somers
Camp Somers is located in beautiful and historic Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation, Stanhope, N.J. We are proud to offer a multitude of camping options including traditional Scouts BSA day and resident camp. Camp Somers has a wide variety of activities and facilities to ensure a great adventure any time of the year, including ATV's and climbing. Camp offers a new water obstacle course, giving Scouts hours of fun in the sun!

The Thomas A. Pepe Camping Scholarship was created to help families that need financial assistance with camp costs. To apply online, complete the short application. The application deadline is April 1, 2024.
Specialty Weeks at Camp Somers
Registration opens of March 20th.
Specialty Weeks are another great way to experience resident camp. Come to Camp Somers and experience a week of camp with a focus on some of your favorite activities!
*Fishing Camp - Week 3
July 21 - July 27
Scouts will earn Fishing, Fly Fishing, and Fish and Wildlife Management merit badges. Earn the Certified Angler Instructors (CAI) certification as a part of the program. This week will include fishing at camp, a deep sea fishing field trip, and more. Resident campers (Provisional and Scouts camping with their troop) are welcome to enroll in this specialty week. Limited to 24 scouts.

*Film and Art Specialty Camp - Week 4
July 28 - August 3
Earn the Moviemaking, Animation, Art, and Photography merit badges! Spend the week learning about a variety of film and art, and make a movie with Peter Basler. Resident campers (Provisional and Scouts camping with their troop) are welcome to enroll in this specialty week. Limited to 20 scouts.

Summer Camp Programs
Resident Camp Option- Troop or Provisional
We are proud to offer four weeks of resident camp to Scouts BSA attending with their troop or by themselves! Provisional campers attending without their troop will be grouped together and form camp troops. Campers attending with their troop should register through their troop reservation.
Trailblazer Day Camp
Trailblazer Day Camp at Camp Somers is a Scouts BSA summer camp week-long adventure. The summer camp program is for all Scouts including both first-year new Scouts and experienced higher ranking Scouts. Scouts have the ability to choose to work on rank advancement or merit badges, as well as participate in high adventure programs throughout camp. Camp runs four weeks, Monday to Friday from 8:45 am – 4:00 pm. Scouts are welcome at camp for more than one week and accomplish many of their Scouting goals. Bus transportation is provided from locations throughout Morris, Sussex and NW Somerset counties.

Forms
BSA Annual Health and Medical Record – Medical forms may be submitted to camp at a Camp Orientation, or turned in on the first day of your child’s week of camp.
ATV Information and Requirements:
1. The Participation and Hold Harmless Agreement (see above).
2. The Waiver and Indemnification Agreement (see above)
3. Complete the free ASI E-Course and bring the printed certificate to camp.
Meet the Staff!
Matt CastleMan - Camp Director
Matt has been the ranger at Mount Allamuchy for 3 years and is a vital member to our camp operations. He brings his knowledge of the camp property, staffing, and excellent customer service skills with him on this new adventure.
Katherine Smith - Program Director
In addition to this new role, Katherine continues as a member of the Council’s Field Staff as the Membership & Program Specialist. As a volunteer, Katherine currently serves as an assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 1150 in Sparta. Katherine has attended Camp Somers for multiple years and brings a great knowledge of the Scouting program
